Workshop Productivity and Safety – Keeping it Clean
Here are 5 tips for keeping your workshop clean, and as a result of doing these, you are creating a more productive and safe work environment.
- Give every tool its own home. There are many simple ways to do this and keep it organised.
- Take photos of the area and place the photo nearby so you can see what goes where – this way you can also see what is missing.
- Drawer inserts for tools
- Shadow boards
- Get rid of items you don’t need
- Check your workshop for items you no longer need
- If customers have any equipment lying around and haven’t picked up – give them a chase
- Scrap metal could be sold on
- General rubbish
- Personal things that shouldn’t be there
- Have a big clean up
- If your workshop isn’t in the best state at the moment, organise a big clean-up and get everyone on board to help out.
- Promote cleanliness as a regular routine
- Clean your tools often.
